Draft a Partner Pitch Deck First Pass with AI in Google Slides
For Business Development Managers ·
What This Does
Every new partner conversation seems to need its own tailored pitch deck, and the blank-slide screen is where a good chunk of that time disappears. Google Slides' AI features can turn a written outline into a first-pass slide structure, leaving you to edit and polish rather than build from nothing.
Before You Start
- You have a Google Workspace account with Gemini enabled (Business Standard, $14/user/month)
- You've written a short outline of the pitch first, in a doc or even a bullet list: who the partner is, the value proposition, and 3-4 supporting points
- Your Slides plan supports AI features. Availability varies by rollout and plan tier, so check the toolbar and sidebar menus described below before assuming it's missing
Steps
1. Find the AI entry point
Open a new or existing Slides presentation and look for an AI or sparkle icon in the toolbar, or check the Insert and View menus for an option along the lines of "Help me visualize" or "Create with AI." Google has been rolling this feature out unevenly across Workspace plans, so the exact label and location can differ from account to account. If you don't see anything after checking those spots, your plan may not include it yet, and pasting your outline into ChatGPT or Claude to get a slide-by-slide structure first is a reasonable fallback.
2. Feed it your outline
Once you find the AI panel, paste or describe your written outline: the partner's name, the value proposition, and your supporting points. Ask for a slide-by-slide structure, one slide per major point, with suggested headers.
3. Review, reorder, and polish
Treat whatever comes back as a rough structural draft, not a finished deck. Reorder slides where the logic doesn't flow, tighten any header that reads generic, and swap in your actual brand template and visuals before this goes anywhere near a partner.
Real Example
Scenario: You're pitching a co-marketing partnership to a mid-size vendor in an adjacent vertical and need a deck ready for a call in two days.
What you type/do: Write a short outline first: partner name, the customer overlap you've identified, three reasons a co-marketing arrangement benefits both sides, and a proposed next step. Feed that outline into the AI feature and ask for a slide structure matching it.
What you get: A rough deck skeleton, roughly one slide per outline point, that saves the layout and structure work at the start of a build so your time goes into strengthening the argument and applying your actual brand deck instead of staring at slide one.
Tips
- Keep unannounced pricing, roadmap details, or competitive intelligence gathered under an NDA out of any AI-generated draft. Build those slides by hand once the rest of the deck is in shape.
- AI-generated decks sometimes fill gaps with placeholder-sounding statistics that read as real numbers. Replace anything you can't personally verify (market size figures, customer counts) with your own confirmed data before the deck leaves your laptop.
- If the AI feature isn't available on your plan yet, drafting the outline structure in ChatGPT or Claude first and building slides manually from that gets you most of the same time savings.
Tool interfaces change. If a button has moved, look for similar AI/Gemini/sparkle options in the Slides toolbar or Insert menu.
